My name is Della Burgus. I think of myself as a painter of life - nature, wildlife, and portraits of people and pets. My style has been described as "realism with a distinctively soft touch." I love finding the light of life in the eyes of a person or animal. Flowers seem more alive when still in the garden; landscapes and seascapes may be still or stormy but never static.
My journey as an artist began so long ago that I no longer remember the first time I took pencil or crayon to paper, but the process has never ended. After art school I continued my education with workshops and other classes, but discovered that most artists really learn to paint by painting. It is a lifelong endeavor, and a way of living that is part of me.
I have been blessed with wonderful collectors across the United States and throughout the world. They have greatly enriched my life, making the world seem a little smaller and more like "community."
Currently I live in a small town with my husband Larry, who is an artist and photographer. I surround myself with pets and animals, flowers and birds. When we can, we love to travel and paint. We have two grown children and two little grandsons.
